Along with my English scholarship, teaching, and publishing experience, I also have a background in dance performance and choreography. I received a B.A. in dance performance from Illinois State University in 2009, and danced with their pre-professional company, Illinois State Dance Theatre, for four years. I also practiced and performed Irish step dancing with Weber Irish Dance for ten years in my hometown, Chicago. I have had choreography produced in both concert dance and theater productions at Illinois State University and the University of York and for the Lords of Misrule in York, UK; the Freespace Dance Festival in St. Charles, IL; and the Mostly Medieval Theatre Festival in Kalamazoo, MI. Some of my choreography connects with my work as a medievalist; the dances in productions by the Lords of Misrule drew on folk dance and medieval dance traditions, and "Cosmic Dance" combined modern dance with early medieval music and dance traditions. Photography and video from some of these productions can be seen below.
